Why the US and Canada are cheapest
Apple lists US and Canadian prices before sales tax. Everywhere else in our data, prices include VAT or GST. In the US you will add between 0% and about 10% at checkout, and in Canada 5% to 15% depending on the province. Even so, they usually remain the cheapest places to buy.
Among countries whose prices include tax, the cheapest are usually those with low VAT (the UAE at 5%, Japan and Malaysia around 10%) and those where the local currency has weakened against the dollar.
The most expensive countries
At the other end, the iPhone 18 Pro costs about $2,814 in Turkey. High import duties, local taxes and weak currencies push prices up in countries like Turkey, Brazil, Russia and Pakistan.
And the iPhone 18 Pro Max?
The ranking is almost identical for the bigger model: the iPhone 18 Pro Max is cheapest in United States (about $1,299) and most expensive in Turkey (about $3,058).

Is it worth buying an iPhone 18 Pro abroad?
- Customs: most countries charge duty and VAT above a personal allowance, which can cancel out the saving.
- Tax refunds: tourists can reclaim VAT in the EU, the UAE and Japan, among others, but not US sales tax. The UK ended tourist VAT refunds in 2021.
- SIM and network: US models are eSIM-only; check that the model supports your carrier's 5G bands.
- Warranty and returns: returns must be made in the country of purchase; warranty service abroad depends on Apple's terms.
